The hexagonal market ofautomobile continues to be driven by strong growth in sales of electric models and hybrids. The government’s goal of achieving an installed park of one million electric cars and plug-in hybrids in 2022 seems achievable.
According to the latest figures published by the National Association for the Development of Electric Mobility (Have-France), there are currently just over 393,000 electric cars and 187,000 plug-in hybrids in circulation in France. As a reminder, the government’s objective is to reach 600,000 and 400,000 respectively by the end of 2022. The spectacular and regular increase in sales should make it possible to achieve this.
Regarding 100% electric models, the French still favor the Renault Zoe (2,577 new copies sold), in front of the Tesla Model 3 (2.111) and the Peugeot e-208 (1.199). On the side of plug-in hybrid vehicles, it is the Peugeot 3008 which dominates the sales (1,708), in front of the Renault Captur (875) and the MG EHS (590).
Over the first five months of the year, a total of 111,636 electrified vehicles found buyers, which represents an increase of 140% compared to the same period a year earlier. Note that on May 1, 2021, France had 45,942 charging points, a figure still far from 100,000, a target announced for the end of 2021 that will be difficult to achieve.
