Forty years after the first Delorean DMC-12, a modernized and 100% electric version will soon enter the market. New teasers confirm this.
Famous for its prominent role in Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future saga, the DeLorean DMC-12 has never had a real career. Or rather an ephemeral career. Forty years later, the DeLorean Motor Company intends to take its revenge by unveiling a new version of the DMC-12, 100% electric.
A modern DMC-12… and finally electric!
The one who rocked a whole generation of children and adults with her futuristic look by Giugiaro has been feeding fantasies for several years. Moreover, we had already imagined its return in 2015. In 2016, the brand affirmed its desire to recreate a coupé similar to the old DMC-12. But at the beginning of 2021, the American company unveiled a first teaser, raising the possibility of an electric rather than thermal version because of complex emissions standards. This time, we touch on the concrete since the manufacturer reveals on its social networks a short video extract with an evocative hashtag: #DeLoreanEVolved. This new model will be presented during the year 2022 according to the brand.
The Future was never promised. Reimagine today.

This modern DeLorean DMC-12 takes on the general silhouette of the coupé of the 1980s, with butterfly doors still relevant. The teaser shows an unprecedented light signature, with an illuminated V-shaped emblem in the center of what is imagined to be a grille. DeLorean Motor Company’s tweet also hints that this vehicle will be luxurious, so should be low volume. The company, owned by engineer Stephen Wynne, is headquartered in Humble, Texas. This place could be that of the production of the electric coupé, of which we do not know the specifics for the moment. See you in the coming months to find out more…
