3 mistakes not to make when facing the heat in the car

That’s it, it’s the home stretch before the summer, after long months of confinement, restrictions of all kinds and especially bad weather that never seemed to end. After a not really fun winter, it is now time to think about the beautiful days and the holidays that may be waiting for you in a few weeks. But whether you are staying at home or getting ready to head out to sunnier areas, read our top tips first. Because if you miss the heat, there are however some small mistakes not to be made, under penalty of leather literally in the passenger compartment of your vehicle. Find out in our article below!

Park your car in the sun

This is advice that seems obvious, and yet we sometimes tend to forget it, telling ourselves that it is not so serious. And yet, if you can, always remember to park your vehicle in the shade, in order to keep the interior cool as long as possible. Because in full sun, the temperature inside can then rise extremely quickly, exceeding 50 degrees in barely twenty minutes. And admit it, you’ve probably already had to get into a very hot car in the summer, with the heat that seems to jump in your face when you open the doors. Not to mention the leather seats, which then become hot, sometimes making installation impossible. And of course, that goes without saying but a little reminder doesn’t hurt: never leave an animal or any other living thing locked in a parked car, whether it is in the sun or not.

Turn on the air conditioning fully and point the nozzles at the passengers

It’s a reflex that we all have when it’s very hot: turn on the air conditioner thoroughly, with the lowest possible temperature. Except that it is better to forget this gesture very quickly, and this for two very simple reasons, and which in fact seem obvious. The first is that the very strong temperature difference between the inside and the outside is harmful to your health and may cause you a cold, which would still be a shame for your vacation. The second is that this same deviation can also worsen the condition of your windshield, if it is damaged, even if you did not notice an impact, which can sometimes be very small. In addition, avoid pointing the nozzles towards you, but rather direct them upwards, for a better distribution of the air flow.

Do not ventilate the passenger compartment before driving

Finally, before driving, always remember to ventilate your cabin, by opening the doors and windows, in order to effectively evacuate the hot air. Then start the engine and turn on the air conditioning, which will then take care of blowing in fresh air, which will allow you to leave more serenely, without suffering the heat that would otherwise remain in the passenger compartment too long.
