Everyone knows that a SUV pollutes much more than a sedan. This difference is estimated at 18% on average over all cars sold in Europe. According to an infographic that Jato Dynamics has just published, and on the basis of all vehicles sold in Europe in 2020, it is sports cars that pollute the most, ahead of SUV and sedans.
SUVs continued to produce greater emissions levels than small/compacts, midsize, executive, luxury cars. On average, an SUV produces 18% more CO2 than these cars, and even the smallest SUVs produce larger average emissions than executive cars: https://t.co/aB1tXlmJ95#JET#CO2pic.twitter.com/CPsVygE2sK

On average, SUV would thus display 18% ofCO2 emissions in addition to a sedan of equivalent size. Unsurprisingly, the larger they are, the more they pollute, up to more than 200 g / km for luxury models.
Despite this capacity to pollute more and a higher consumption, SUV continue to attract a large audience, this segment representing more than one in five cars sold in Europe.
