Decrease in ecological bonus 2021: date, new amount, electric cars, hybrids
ADVERTISEMENT

The maximum bonus will soon drop to 6,000 euros for electric models and 1,000 euros for qualifying plug-in hybrids. All the info.

In a few days, the scale of the ecological bonus will be reduced in amount on several levels. This concerns both electric models and plug-in hybrids that meet the eligibility criteria. Discover below all the elements to remember on this subject.

Date of reduction of the bonus

The reduction in the ecological bonus will be effective from July 1, 2021. As a reminder, the revaluation of the maximum bonus was recorded a little over a year ago. It was one of the main government measures included in the automobile recovery plan, presented on May 26, 2020, a plan intended to support the restart of the automotive industry, severely impacted by the coronavirus crisis. Initially, this new bonus with the increased amount was to be valid until the end of 2020. However, in view of the persistence of the health crisis, this exceptional aid had been extended for another six months, until the end of this month of June. Thus, the duration of application of this revalued bonus will have concerned an uninterrupted period of 13 months.

New amount

Until June 30, 2021 inclusive, it is possible to take advantage of the maximum bonus revalued one year earlier. For the record, it had been raised from 6,000 to 7,000 euros for 100% electric cars whose price is less than or equal to 45,000 euros, within the limit of 27% of the purchase price. This 27% limit currently concerns the Dacia Spring, the Renault Twingo Electric, the Seat Mii Electric and the Fiat 500e. On the side of the plug-in hybrid, a temporary financial boost had been put in place, to the tune of 2,000 euros, subject to eligibility conditions. On July 1, the end of this exceptional aid means a return to a scale similar to that of the beginning of 2020, i.e. 6000 euros for electric models entitled to the maximum bonus. For the plug-in hybrids eligible, the bonus will be halved, thus falling to 1000 euros. Note that nothing changes for the occasion, the bonus being maintained at 1000 euros for an electric model (20 g / km of CO2 maximum).

Electric cars

Therefore, from July 1, 2021, the maximum bonus allocated to the 100% electric sector goes down from 7,000 to 6,000 euros (from 5,000 to 4,000 euros for a legal person), keeping a ceiling representing 27% of the purchase price. As a reminder, this maximum amount concerns zero-emission vehicles whose price is less than 45,000 euros (with a CO2 rate less than or equal to 20 g / km). For models shown between 45,000 and 60,000 euros, the aid is also reduced by 1000 euros, passing from 3000 to 2000 euros. As a reminder, above this threshold, no bonus applies, with the exception of light commercial vehicles and vehicles running on hydrogen, also credited with an amount reduced from 3000 to 2000 euros on July 1st.

  • EV of less than € 45,000 (20 g / km CO2 max): bonus of € 6,000 on July 1st (instead of € 7,000), limit 27% purchase price incl.
  • VE from 45,000 to 60,000 € (20 g / km CO2 max): € 2,000 bonus on July 1st (instead of € 3,000)
  • EV over € 60,000: no bonus, except light utility or hydrogen, 2000 € (instead of 3000 €)

Plug-in hybrid cars

Since 1is June 2020, some hybrid vehicles had regained a bonus, up to 2000 euros. As a reminder, the models in question must meet the following criteria: be rechargeable, with a purchase price less than or equal to 50 000 euros, an all-electric autonomy greater than 50 km (WLTP) and a CO2 rate of between 21 and 50 g / km. Like electricity, this temporary aid had been extended as it was beyond 2020, until the end of the first half of 2021. From July 1st, its amount will be halved. Thus, on that date, the new bonus allocated to eligible plug-in hybrid models will be equal to 1000 euros.

  • Eligible ORVs (€ 50,000 max, 21 to 50 g / km CO2, more than 50 km of range): bonus of 1000 € on July 1st (instead of 2000 €)

Conditions

« To find out which bonus amount applies to your vehicle, you must take into account the date of invoice (or the payment date of 1is rent for a rented vehicle), recalls the official site of the public service.
