You may learn it today but, in France in any case, it is forbidden to drive with snow on the roof of your car. And here is a good example of why it is important to respect this rule.
Here, the scene does not take place in France, but in New York State, on the highway. We are in a car with an on-board camera when a van overtakes us.
The latter drives at approximately 90 km/h and one can notice on its roof a huge layer of ice. And for good reason, the author of this video explains that the area was hit by a major ice storm in early February.
Only then, with the return of fine weather and rising temperatures, this famous layer of ice will quickly peel off the roof of this van.
Bad luck, this phenomenon finally takes place on the highway, at full speed, when overtaking the car which films the scene and here is the result.
One less windshield
The author of this video therefore received the block of ice in the middle of his windshield. And according to his estimates, the frozen piece weighed about 200 kg.
Not impossible when you see the size and thickness of this huge block. Either way, he didn’t give the poor windshield any chance, which shattered on the spot.
Fortunately, no one was hurt and that’s the main thing in this story.
