In addition to Formula 1the schedule of promotional formulas (F2 and F3) keep growing. In view of this, the FOM -Formula One Management- has decided to remove the sleeve from the French Grand Prix of the F1 antechamber calendar, to reduce the number of races.
Since its return to the calendar of the discipline in 2018, the circuit Paul Ricard has always hosted, alongside Formula 1, a round of the F2 and of F3. However, in 2022, this will no longer be the case. If the formulas of promotions will make a stop at each Grand Prix of the European tour, France is no longer part of it, as explained Stephane Clair -General Manager of Circuit Paul Ricard- at the microphone of Motorsport :
“It’s true that today the Formula 1 calendar has been extended so much that they can’t go everywhere and they make choices. And the choices are not necessarily at all concentrated in Europe so, for the moment, we have no information. We hoped for these events for this year, it will perhaps be for the future. In addition, we are used to seeing test sessions here, so it’s true that we would have really appreciated having them. »
The weekend of July 22 to 24 will therefore be less dense on the Var side. Nevertheless, the French Grand Prix will host the event of the category W Series -category in promotion formula reserved for women- in addition to the Porsche Supercup.
