The GB Operator allows you to legally play its games Game Boy directly on his computer. More than just an emulator, it reads the physical copy of the game and can update and copy saves to the cartridge.

[EN VIDÉO] In 2050, we will be working with transparent computers
Today we are glued to our screens, but tomorrow, augmented reality and the power of computers will free us from our workstations, thanks to transparent or virtual screens. This is what Planète + explains to us in its new episode of Dreaming the Future, broadcast this Friday, February 3, 2017, and of which here is an exclusive extract.

While the physical drives (floppy disks, CD, etc.) have almost disappeared from recent computers, here is a rather special reader for a rather old technology … GB Operator allows you to plug in your cartridges Game Boy directly on a computer, and play it using the mGBA emulator or another one of your choice.

While emulators are nothing new, usually you have to download a copy of the games, which is more than questionable legality. With the GB Operator, this issue is resolved since you are playing directly from the cartridges you own. The reader even incorporates a system that detects false cartridges.

Create backup copies of your backups

The GB Operator supports games Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. It is compatible with Windows, macOS and Linux. The manufacturer Epilogue has also integrated the possibility of directly recording its part on the cartridge, as well as a tool to create and restore copies of its backups. This allows you not to lose your progress when switching from the computer to the console, or even replacing the battery built into a cartridge. The device even allows you to recover monochrome photos in 128 x 116 pixels, taken with the Game Boy Camera.

The budding developers can also try to create their own games with the software GB Studio, since the device allows the code to be transferred to an empty cartridge. The GB Operator is currently available for pre-order for $ 49.99 (42 euros) with worldwide delivery slated for August.
