A small German brand pays homage to the Audi Quattro with a 100% electric E-Legend EL1 produced in 30 copies.
If you are an automobile fan, you are most likely familiar with the mythical Audi Quattro. The first large-series sports coupé to be fitted with all-wheel drive, it quickly became a true rally legend, winning several world championship victories. An outstanding competitor and a real technical prowess on wheels, which has earned her the rank of automotive icon rand. Still very popular and sought after by collectors, the Audi Quattro is truly part of the DNA of the Ingolstadt brand. While tributes and other reinterpretations have continued to multiply over the years, a small German company stands out by offering something truly new. Baptized E-Legend EL1, this new creation with the false air of a concept car is already making a name for itself around the world, for several reasons. Because it is electric, first of all, but also because it is possible to afford a copy.
First of all, we must clarify one thing: this car has absolutely nothing to do with the Peugeot e-Legend concept, unveiled in 2018. Because if this name was chosen, it is above all to pay tribute to this legend of the specials, produced from 1980 to 1991, under several generations. And the least we can say is that the designers went to great lengths to create this unique model, drawing inspiration from the lines of the original car, while bringing a touch of modernity and fantasy. If we recognize the square lines of the original Quattro, as well as the air intake on the hood, the rest is rather original, adopting a neo-retro look still very fashionable. On board, however, nothing has been kept from its inspiration, since this E-Legend EL1 adopts a very stripped down, even quite futuristic driving position. The mirrors are here replaced by cameras, the images of which are broadcast on two small screens. These are then supplemented by a touch screen installed in the center of the dashboard, as well as by a digital instrument panel.
Up to 800 horsepower
For now, the information is still fairly minimal on this E-Legend EL1, whose date of entry into production has not yet been announced. But one thing is certain, it will be powered by no less than three electric motors, which then develop a cumulative power of 800 horsepower. A figure to say the least impressive, while the 0 to 100 km / h is just as much, since it is achieved on paper in just 2.8 seconds. It’s as good as a Tesla Model S! Equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 90 kWh, the electric coupe is then able to travel about 400 kilometers in a single charge, which remains more than honorable. This is largely due to the relatively low weight of only 1,680 kilos, which is due among other things to the monocoque structure made of carbon fibers.
This undoubtedly helps to understand a little better why the price of the car is so high. Produced in only 30 copies, this E-Legend EL1 is indeed displayed at 890 000 €, without taxes. A totally crazy amount, but one that should probably not deter the most motivated buyers. Later, two other models will also be launched, one of which will be inspired by the legendary Lancia Stratos.
