Over the past seven years, Mercedes’ objective has been clear: to retain the two world titles acquired the previous season. But in 2021, it was only half filled, Max Verstappen managing to be crowned at the wheel of his Red Bull. Since then, the star team is expected for its reaction of pride, as well as Lewis Hamilton, motivated by the conquest of a record eighth title. The unknown this season lies in the level of performance displayed by George Russell. Impressive at Williams at the back of the grid, the young Briton can have great ambitions with Mercedes, with whom he has already competed in a Grand Prix. It was during Sakhir’s 2020 GP, replacing Lewis Hamilton, positive for Covid-19. The Formula 2 champion in 2018 made a strong impressionhaving the pace to clinch victory before suffering a problem in the pits.
