The United States Grand Prix has reached a new agreement with Formula 1 to remain on the calendar until 2026.
Formula 1 officially announced its extension of contract with the United States Grand Prix, for an additional 5 years. The F1 championship will therefore go until 2026 to Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. This is in line with the logic of the FIA and the FOM to further establish motorsport in the United States, as evidenced by the Miami Grand Prix which is arriving this season for the first time in history, from May 6 to 8.

As a reminder, the United States Grand Prix entered Formula 1 on the COTA circuit in 2012. However, since then, it is certain that the latter does not deny success. During its first edition, a crowd of 100,000 people came to witness the victory of Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren. In 2021, more than 400,000 people attended the event. It is particularly through these figures that Stefano Domenicali – Chairman and Managing Director of Formula 1– justified this 5-year extension:
« We are delighted to announce the expansion with Circuit of The Americas ahead of the exciting new 2022 season. I would like to thank the promoter for his continued dedication and enthusiasm for Formula 1. Together we continue to build excitement around our sport in the United States, following the huge success of Netflix, the work of ESPN and the amazing season we’ve had in 2021. Austin is a great city, and the track is every driver’s favorite, and we can’t wait to be back in October for more action and fun . »
