Honda e-Drag: discover this supercharged concept

The Honda e, do you know? As a reminder, this is the small electric city car launched by the Japanese brand in 2019, a few months after the revelation of the eponymous concept during the Geneva show. The first zero-emission model from the Asian constrictor, the car quickly won the hearts of the press and the public, when it was notably voted 2020 Car of the Year in Germany. It must be said that its rounded style and its adorable face have largely contributed to its success, as well as its astonishing interior, consisting of a huge digital panel acting as a handset as well as a touch screen. Note also the new mode to transform this amazing dashboard into an aquarium. Gadget sure, but terribly fun! So many small details that make this Honda a real UFO on the market, while it is also one of the first production vehicles to do away with standard mirrors, in favor of cameras, as on theAudi e-tron.

In short, this is the summary of this little Honda e, which has no vocation to be a sports car. Finally, until now, while the brand has just lifted the veil on a new concept, called Honda e-Drag. And yes, as the name suggests, the desire of the manufacturer’s teams is to transform the wise electric city car into a real one. dragster. And this can be seen from the first glance, as the car benefits from a new, more aggressive look, thanks to a black and red dress. But this is not the only transformation that has been made on this concept car, which is fitted with new lightweight 17-inch rims taken from the Honda NSX, paved with stick tires. We will also notice the presence of polycarbonate plastic windows, a material lighter than glass, used in competition to reduce the weight of cars. Note also that the entire body is made of carbon fibers.

Little racing beast

If the interior is impressive, it is nothing compared to the interior, totally emptied to keep only the digital dashboard and the center console. The door linings have been replaced by carbone, while the floor and the ceiling are now completely bare, in order to save a little extra weight on the scale. A roll bar was also added, while the front seats were replaced with bucket seats. The back seat has on its side purely and simply disappeared. If no indication as to an increase in power has been given by the brand, it specifies that a new locking device for the front wheels has been added, making it possible to heat the rear tires. As a reminder, the city car is powered by a electric motor of 154 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque, while it can knock down the 0 to 100 km / h in less than eight seconds in this configuration. It should also be noted that the suspensions were taken from the Honda Civic and were adapted to the small car.
