According to a study by Coyote Secure, no less than 95 cars and two-wheelers are stolen every day in Île-de-France. An alarming situation.
It is undoubtedly one of the worst nightmares of motorists: having your car stolen. And yet, this happens much more often than you might think, since no less than 120,000 cars are stolen each year, or 336 per day on average throughout France. A more than alarming finding, while electronic solutions to fight against theft do not seem to deter thugs. But if no region is unfortunately spared, some are nevertheless much more affected than others by this scourge. And among them, Île-de-France comes unsurprisingly to the top, as revealed by a study carried out by Coyote Secure.
Paris in the lead
Indeed, no less than 34,727 vehicles (cars, two-wheelers, construction machinery, etc.) were stolen in Ile-de-France over the whole of last year, an average of about 95 every day. If motorcycles and scooters are the most affected, cars are also very clearly affected, and in particular the Peugeot 3008 and 5008, very popular with thieves. If Paris is the city most affected by thefts, it is in Seine-Saint-Denis that most stolen vehicles are found, again according to figures from Coyote Secure.
To commit their theft, thieves no longer have much recourse to mechanical methods, but rather favor computers, which are increasingly present in cars. According to the study, 88% of thefts in France were committed with the help of a housing allowing the vehicle to be unlocked without any violation.
