Audi will cast an even wider net, on the green mobility side, from 2023, by offering a 100% electric derivative of its future Q2, logically called e-tron.
New Audi Q2 e-tron 2023 – While we have just learned that the current A1 will not be replaced, as such, the honor will go to the Q2 SUV to represent the entry level of the 4 Rings catalog, in the coming years. This second generation of urban SUV, scheduled for 2023, or even 2024, could only be moved by the electricity fairy.
Already existing in China
If the Audi Q2 marketed in Europe only fuels fossil fuels, it is quite different on the other side of the world. And more precisely on the Chinese market where this same crossover lengthens a little more than 3 cm to improve livability in the rear seats, hence its Audi Q2 L name, while it offers its catalog a 100% electric variant. But its technology from another time, not ensuring than 265 km of autonomy, which is more according to the old cycle of NEDC homologation, less than 200 km in reality, will have closed the doors to the European market.
An unprecedented platform
It will therefore be necessary to wait until the replacement of this first generation of Q2 to see the end of the grille (dummy) of an e-tron version. A conversion that should be done via the new base called SSP (Evolutive Systems Platform), generalized on all future electric models of the Volkswagen group. Even more flexible than the MEB (entry and mid-range) and PPE (premium) bases, it will inaugurate a new cell technology for its batteries, the cost of which will be largely below 100 € / kWh. 80% of the models in the range will use it in 2030. Regarding the future Audi Q2 e-tron SUV, the bar of 400 km of WLTP autonomy will be largely exceeded at the entry level.
Prix Audi Q2 e-tron
At launch in 2023, the Audi Q2 e-tron should be offered around € 35,000, when his big brothers Q4 e-tron + Sportback are claiming a minimum of € 42,800 to date.
