How to activate the password manager on Chrome?
If you want to automatically save the passwords that you enter on web pages opened in Chrome, then you will have to activate the password manager by accessing your Google account.
To do this, first launch Chrome, then click on the“Personalize and control Google Chrome” in the upper right corner of the . A menu appears, click on “Settings”.
Once in the settings, locate the “People” section, then click on “manage your Google account”.
A new tab opens, go to it. On the left side of the screen, click on “Security”.
Now scroll down the page and find the “Sign in to other sites” section. Then click on “Password manager”.
Once on the page titled “Password Manager”, click on the gear icon.
Now move the two sliders to the right. In this way, Google will offer you to keep in memory the usernames and passwords that you will use on websites opened in Chrome and Android, but also to automatically connect to them the next time you come back to them.
How to save passwords?
From now on, when you try to identify yourself on a site opened in Chrome, a small window is displayed at the top of yourand asks if you want to save your password. Click on “Save”.
How do I access the passwords stored by Google?
Return to the “Password Manager” page for your Google account, then scroll down to see a list of all sites orwhose password is saved. Click on the site or application of your choice.
For each site or application, you have the possibility to copy your username and password to the clipboard (by clicking on the corresponding icon), to view your password (for example, if you do not remember it). plus and you want to sign in to an account from the browser of another device), modify it or delete it.
How to check if a password has been stolen?
Google has also integrated a function in its manager allowing you to verify that your passwords have not been stolen.
To do this, Google compares your login details with those contained in databases of stolen information and tells you if it finds any matches.
To proceed with the operation, simply go to the page of the , then click on “Check passwords” in the “Check-up Passwords” box.
Click “Check Passwords” again on the page that appears.
The results of the analysis are displayed on the screen. As you can see in the illustration, two passwords have been stolen and can potentially be used by malicious people.
If this happens to you, you should immediately change the passwords in question. Click on the arrow to see the list of sites that have been hacked.
Next to the name of the sites, click on “Change password” for each item in the list. You normally arrive on the home page of the sites mentioned, connect to each of them and change your password.
Note that by clicking on the three dots next to the “Change password” button, new options are available to you. You can then display the password (and see if you are using it on other sites), update it or delete it from the database (this removes it from Google, but you still have to change on the site or application from which the data was stolen).
These same options are available for passwords that you use on several different sites and passwords that are not very secure. As you probably already know, in theory you should create a unique, hard-to-hack password for each site you need to log in to.
As a reminder, your passwords are now managed by Google. You must therefore have a password that you will not use on any other site or application. Otherwise, you could have all of your passwords compromised if they were stolen on another site.
