Scrapping bonus: now treat yourself to an electric bike

With the entry into force of the climate law, it is now possible to take advantage of the scrapping bonus to buy an electric bicycle.

There has been something new in recent weeks. While the first bars of the climate law are slowly coming into force, and the incentives to drive cleaner continue to multiply. The government’s goal? Do everything to make the French want to adopt softer mobility, before putting in place more restrictive measures. Among them are the various traffic restrictions for petrol and hybrid cars, as well as the eventual ban on the sale of internal combustion cars. But before that, the State wants to go slowly, and first offers motorists various alternatives, by encouraging them to get rid of their vehicles deemed too polluting. And among the first developments just put in place, let us quote precisely a revised scrapping bonus, which no longer aims only to change the car to buy a more recent one.

Indeed, recently, it is now possible to buy an electric bike by scrapping your old vehicle, whereas until then you could not only afford a new car with this boost. A small development that should undoubtedly appeal to motorists living in large cities, and who no longer necessarily need a car to go to their place of work every day. From now on, if you decide to send your vehicle to the scrapyard, you will therefore be able to benefit from a bonus of up to € 1,500 for the purchase of an electric bicycle. Be careful, because this little boost is capped at 40% of the total purchase price, and therefore varies depending on the latter. A good way to encourage the French to pedal, especially since the offer is increasingly wide, with models ranging from 700 to more than 2,000 € depending on the brands and features.

A bonus for cargo bikes and utility vehicles

But that’s not all, since the climate law also provides for the establishment of a brand new bonus dedicated to the purchase of cargo bikes, of which the government wishes to develop the use. Valid as of now, this aid is capped at € 1,000 or 40% of the total purchase price, for natural and legal persons. A nice boost, while this type of bike, dedicated to the transport of goods generally turns around 4,000 €, depending on the brands and models. Finally, the State is a little more generous with regard to utilities, by increasing the ecological bonus by 1,000 €, or a total of 7,000 € for all vehicles. vans rejecting less than 20 g / km. It is therefore only electric, hybrid vehicles are not able to reduce their emissions as much. Note that this aid is capped at 40% of the purchase cost and is only valid for vehicles under € 45,000. You should also know that the bonus goes down to € 5,000 for legal persons.
