[EN VIDÉO] Do our smartphones kill insects? Insects are seriously threatened by pesticides, urbanization and intensive agriculture. But cell phone waves could also be harmful to them.
The trend of smartphones borderless encounters a major obstacle: the camera selfie. The most common solutions are the punch hole or the notch in the form of a drop of water. However, it is not ideal for activities like games and full screen movies. Many manufacturers are working to integrate the camera directly under the screen, including the Chinese Oppo which has just announced its second iteration of this technology.
Oppo had already presented a premier prototype in 2019 with a reduced pixel density in the area of the screen above the camera in order to allow more light. This time, the manufacturer has managed to keep an identical density of 400 dots per inch by reducing the size of the pixels. According to the firm, this advance should ” maintain the integrity and uniformity of the entire screen ».
Improved image quality
Oppo announces that it has also integrated circuits transparent, control of individual pixels (rather than a circuit for two pixels) and better durability. On the camera side, the constructor relies on artificial intelligence to correct the defects induced by the screen, in particular at the level of reflections and Sharpness. The result, although perfectible, is more than enough for video calls.
At present, only ZTE has released a smartphone with the camera integrated under the screen, with its Axon 20 5G, then its Axon 30 just announced. The first had received a mixed reception, the camera area being quite visible. Oppo is not talking about a commercial launch yet, but this new prototype gives hope that a first consumer model could arrive quickly.
