Morgan unveils its Plus Four CX-T, an all-terrain roadster limited to just eight units worldwide.
It had been a while since we last heard of Morgan, as the brand has remained silent since their news broke. More Oven at the beginning of last year. But it was for a good cause, because the British firm was actually preparing a project for us to say the least nice and very unexpected, just revealed at the beginning of August. This is the Morgan Plus Four CX-T, a very radical version of the roadster, then transformed for the occasion into a real all-terrain vehicle. A metamorphosis that is part of the trend, as we are currently seeing many projects flourish aimed at transforming standard models into competition beasts for muddy trails. But for Morgan, it’s more than just a fad, and to understand it, you have to look at its history. Indeed, the brand has long distinguished itself in competitions on land in the early 1910s, and this new creation therefore sounds like a vibrant tribute to this period and its beginnings.
Equipped with a rigid roof equipped with a roll bar and allowing the transport of a bicycle or any kind of object, this Morgan Plus Four CX-T differs from the standard version by a very particular style. And for good reason, the roadster is also adorned with four long-range headlights reminiscent of the world of rallying, while its beige color contrasts perfectly with the very beautiful bronze-colored rims. At the rear, an open trunk accommodates two spare wheels, as well as a toolbox, while it is also possible to install some personal belongings. Two bags are also installed on the front fenders, giving a decidedly vintage style to the whole. Finally, the styling is made more aggressive by widened tracks, while the tailpipes have been moved to the sides. On board, the presentation is rather bare but remains complete, the driving position then being fully dressed in black leather.
Heart of Z4
Based on the new CX platform developed by the brand and prepared by the specialist of Dakar vehicles, Rally Raid UK, this Morgan Plus Four CX-T has not really come to make up the figures. The English roadster is indeed equipped with a specific suspension, with wishbones having been modified for off-road use, while the ground clearance is displayed at 23 centimeters. Designed to withstand the most difficult terrain, the car is also equipped with plates to better protect the underpinnings. Under its hood, this CX-T has an engine that we already know well, since it is the four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo with 258 horsepower, which equips the current BMW Z4, as well as its technical cousin. , the new Toyota Supra. Equipped with a rear differential with three locking modes, the roadster is available with a manual or automatic gearbox.
However, you will have to hurry if you want to buy yourself a copy, when only eight will be produced worldwide, for a unit price of around € 200,000. Tax-free, of course.
