It’s official: the Lamborghini Countach will return to the range, probably with a hybrid engine.
« The new Lamborghini Countach arrive “. It is in these terms could not be clearer that the firm of Sant’Agata announces the return of its legend, then taking everyone by surprise. And for good reason, if fans have been asking for years that the legendary sportswoman return in a modernized form, no one would have thought that the brand really listens to them. A nice surprise and a nice gift from the manufacturer, therefore, who formalized this unexpected return on social networks, via a captioned video-teaser “ we make dreams come true. We did it with the Countach in the 1970s. And we’ll do it again. “. Enough to panic Internet users and create an event on the net, while the brand has so far given no details on this new version, which should evolve very clearly compared to the original version, produced between 1974 and 1990 .

For the moment, no photo has obviously been shown, while the Italian firm jealously keeps the secret of this new Countach, for the moment hidden under a tarpaulin. However, our colleagues from the site The Super Car Blog seems to be a little better informed, saying that this newcomer will take some elements of the original version, including the air intakes at the rear, among others. According to the media, the white paint also suggests that Lamborghini has chosen to offer a palette of period colors to better stick to the philosophy of the car. The rest of the design is for the moment still very mysterious, but we should not wait too long to learn more, while our colleagues say that this new Countach will be revealed on August 15, on the occasion of the Monterey Car Week. An occasion that was obviously not chosen at random, since this revelation will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the sportswoman.
A hybrid supercar
As you will have understood, there is currently almost no information about this new Countach, which should then take the name LPI-800-4. This should then afford a much more modern engine than the V12 of the time, which then developed between 353 and 455 horsepower depending on the version. And for good reason, the sports car should be equipped with a hybrid powertrain, then taking the Sian’s atmospheric 6.5-liter V12, associated with a 48-volt system. According to the first rumors of the corridors, the sports car should then be a little more powerful than the 819 horses of the aforementioned supercar, even if it will be necessary to wait for its revelation to know a little more.
Only 112 copies of this new Lamborghini Countach should be produced, for a unit price then around 3 million euros.
