More than a year after its launch, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is available in a brand new discoverable version, at Pebble Beach.
Things are happening on the side of Aston Martin! A few weeks after the reveal of the final version of the new Valhalla, it’s the turn of another supercar to make the talk. And this time, it is the Valkyrie, officially unveiled in 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show, before being launched on the roads in March 2020. After the standard version, then the more radical AMR Pro version, it is is this time a new variant which makes its arrival in the catalog. And not surprisingly, it is therefore on the occasion of the elegance competition of Pebble Beach, in Monterey, California, that the British firm has decided to say more about this newcomer, who takes advantage of this month of August to remove the top. To the delight of fans of the brand, who have been waiting for this new version. And the least we can say is that it should not fail to create a sensation on the lawns of the prestigious competition, which opens its doors today.
Of course, the designers haven’t changed much to the lines of this Aston Martin Valkyrie, which retains its obviously very aggressive facies, as well as its tortured features, designed to offer maximum aerodynamics. The whole remains therefore very nasty, at the front as at the rear, with its immense diffuser. The various aerodynamic appendages then make it possible to generate a downforce of 1,400 kilos at 240 km / h in Track mode depending on the brand. polycarbonate in order to limit weight, the English sports car is also upgrading its openings. Exit the butterfly doors, those of the convertible are now in elytron, due to the absence of a roof. The interior remains unchanged, taking up the presentation of the coupe with its central screen and multifunction steering wheel inspired by the world of competition. The driver is held in his sports seat by a six-point harness.
Card unchanged
Not surprisingly, the technical characteristics of this Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider do not change one iota compared to the coupe, since the two logically share the same V12 Cosworth 6.5-liter naturally aspirated hybrid developing no less than 1,176 horsepower for a maximum torque of 900 Nm. Described as the production Aston Martin the most extreme ever produced, the roadster can then reach a maximum speed of 330 km / h when the roof is removed, and 350 km / h when it is in place. 0 to 100 km / h has not been announced, but it should probably be done in less than three seconds. Unfortunately, only 85 units will be produced of the discoverable supercar, and as usual, these have once again all already been sold. The first deliveries are scheduled for the 2nd quarter of 2022, while the unit price has not yet been disclosed.
