Lamborghini is reviving its legendary Countach at Pebble Beach, modernized and featuring a V12 hybrid taken from the Sian.

We didn’t really dare to hope so, and here we are, Lamborghini did. Thirty years after giving way to the iconic Diablo, the Countach is finally making its comeback, unexpectedly. Because if the brand had unveiled a first teaser of its supercar, the surprise remained significant, while nothing would have suggested such a return a few months earlier. A nice gift from the Italian firm to its fans, with a new version revised and corrected, but above all very largely modernized compared to the original version, produced from 1974 to 1990. It is therefore on the occasion of the famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, in California, that the Sant’Agata Bolognese brand has decided to lift the veil on this new addition to the range, which is actually based on the current Aventador.

Of course, this news Lamborghini Countach LP800-4 sees its features modernized compared to the version produced in the 70s to 90s, then inspired by the latest productions of the brand. And if certain elements had to be sacrificed on the altar of the production, such as the pop-up lights, we will nevertheless appreciate to find certain details, such as the doors in elytron, the square optics or the sockets of air on the sides. Overall, the silhouette is also very close, with its front face falling and its rear part which goes up slightly. It is also made aggressive by its imposing shield, surmounted by four round lights. On board, the presentation is obviously very modern but remains uncluttered, with its digital handset associated with a touch screen installed on the central console. 8.4-inch diagonal, it includes the entire infotainment system, as well as some information on the design of the Countach original.

Heart of Sian

Contrary to what one might think, this new Lamborghini Countach is not really a full-fledged model in the range, since it is actually more of a re-sprinkled Aventador. If the firm obviously wanted to keep the mythical V12 under the hood of this new version, it is not that of the original version. Indeed, the engineers have chosen to graft the sport engine of the new Sian, a twelve-cylinder 6.5-liter displacement, developing no less than 780 horsepower. This is now associated with a 48-volt light hybridization system, allowing a total of 814 equines and 700 Nm of torque to be displayed. All this cavalry is then sent to the four wheels via a robotic manual gearbox as well as an all-wheel drive. Thanks to the massive use of carbon fiber, the Italian sportswoman manages to limit her weight to 1,595 kilos, which then allows her to achieve 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.8 seconds, for a maximum displayed speed. at 355 km / h.

Unfortunately, there will not be something for everyone, since only 112 copies will be produced of this Lamborghini Countach LP800-4, the first deliveries of which will begin next year. It will then take no less than 2.3 million euros to afford one!
