Hebi Robotics has just unveiled its new all-terrain robot. Thanks to its four articulated tracks, it easily overcomes all obstacles on land and even underwater.
If someone tells you about a crawler robot, you probably imagine a device inspired by a tank or the Wall-E character. However, the company Hebi Robotics had a very different and quite ingenious idea: rather than using two fixed tracks, his Tready robot has four tracks placed at the end of articulated arms. Its name is also derived from caterpillar treads, the name of the caterpillars in English.
Each of its tracks can be controlled individually, and placed flat on the ground, or pivoted on either end. Tready is thus able to move on most terrains, including the stairs. By orienting each “foot” separately, he can climb obstacles such as a trunk.tree and easily dislodges if it falls into a hole.

A robot capable of moving in water
Tready is IP67 certified, which means it can move through water one meter deep for 30 minutes. It is 110 centimeters long, 48.5 centimeters wide and weighs 25 kilograms. Equipped with eight actuators, the robot can reach a speed of 1.8 kilometers per hour and has a range of two to three hours thanks to its removable battery. It embeds a mini PC Intel NUC and can be ordered via Wi-Fi thanks to a application mobile.
Its ability to move over any terrain makes Tready ideal for rescue operations as well as inspection of industrial sites. It is possible to add a mechanical arm, a camera or the Lidar. If Tready is offered for sale, Hebi Robotics does not however specify the price. It will nevertheless take more than $ 36,000, the price of its eight actuators …
