[Mis à jour le 21/08/2021 à 12h10] This year, the 24 hours of Le Mans are held during the third week of August, the race counting as the 89th edition taking place Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 August. This is a first in the history of the event. In 2020, the time slot for September was chosen to endorse the postponement of an edition already marked by the emergence of the health crisis. In this specific case, there was a precedent, in 1968, when the classic Le Mans had been postponed in September, in view of the uncertainties linked to the events of May and to the rationing of gasoline. Not to mention that in 1956, the race was held at the end of July, due to renovations resulting from the dramatic previous edition, while in 1923 it was held in May. Usually, the Sarthois double clock tower is contested in the heart of month of June, during the 24th week of the year.
