Four years after its launch, the current Ford Fiesta is actively preparing its restyling, already on the run on the net.
The current Ford Fiesta has been featured in the brand’s catalog for four years now. A seventh generation launched in 2017 on the market, and completely renewed both in terms of style and engines, without creating a real revolution. And for good reason, the style then gained in softness, with the disappearance of the ribs on the hood, new optics as well as a redesigned grille. The rear had also undergone some modifications, in order to modernize compared to the old version. On board, the presentation had also benefited from a new stroke of pencil, with the arrival of a new touch screen, placed on the dashboard, for a much more modern atmosphere. But now, after more than four years of marketing, it is now time for the city dweller to afford a little facelift, while a restyling is in the process of being prepared.
Indeed, our colleagues from Automedia had the chance to see the next version of the star of the brand with the blue oval in freedom. While in the midst of road tests, the city dweller has indeed allowed herself to be immortalized, letting a glimpse of her new face, which however remains well hidden behind the usual black and white camouflages intended to hide the shapes. It is therefore difficult for the time being to know precisely what the designers are doing on this new version, which should greatly improve its front panel. All around the grille has in fact been hidden, as well as the hood, while the optics are not quite visible in their entirety. The developments seem much more discreet at the rear, while only the upper part of the lights is dressed in a light camouflage. However, the interior has not been seen, but there is no doubt that it will also undergo some changes, without changing at all.
A 100% electric variant?
For now, you will obviously not be surprised to learn that Ford has not yet wanted to give the slightest detail on the restyled version of the 7th generation of its Fiesta. We will therefore have to take our trouble patiently before knowing more, but everything suggests that the city car will retain the range of engines of the current version. The 1.0-liter, 125-horsepower three-cylinder equipped with a 48-volt hybridization will therefore logically be renewed, as will the 1.1-liter 75-horsepower as well as the 1,0 litre Flexifuel developing 95 equines. But the brand’s best-seller could also be available in a 100% electric version in the years to come, while the company wants to offer at least one zero-emission or hybrid variant of all its models from 2026.
This new restyled Ford Fiesta should be officially unveiled by the end of the year, for marketing scheduled for early 2022. The ST version should also benefit from this facelift, as should the version. Active, more adventurous.
