The Dieppe range will be converted exclusively to electricity in the coming years. What do we know about the future Alpine GTi on “stack”?
Future Alpine GTi electric (2024): The noose tightens around the future chip from the Dieppe manufacturer. After being announced for the first time at the start of the year, new information allows to know a little more about its physiognomy and the technology on which it will be based. On this occasion, Auto-Moto gives you his vision of the style that the city car could sport, through an exclusive illustration.
100% electric
Remember, last January, Luca de Meo unveiled the next strategic directions for the Renault group through the Renaulution event. Besides the promise of a comeback of the R5, in the form of a fully electric vehicle, we also learned that in the future, Alpine will definitely turn its back on fossil fuels. A future 100% electric catalog that will firstly focus on an SUV based on the Nissan Ariya platform, then on the replacement of the Berlinette A110, thanks to a partnership established with the English of Lotus. But Alpine is also targeting higher sales volumes thanks to the launch of a city car, distant heir to the R5 Alpine which caused a sensation in 1976.
Renault 5 base
If, at the beginning of 2021, the leaders of Alpine had brushed aside the possibility that their GTi would be extrapolated from the future R5, recent statements claim the opposite. Indeed, questioned by our British colleagues fromAuto Express, Gilles Le Borgne, head of engineering for the Renault group, did not hide theclose lineage that will reign between these two vehicles. For reasons of economy, it is on a Modified platform of the current Clio 5 (CMF-B) that the two cousins will rest. A technical base called CMF-BEV who will be able to welcome the 217 hp and 300 Nm electric motor that the new Renault MéganE E-Tech Electric will soon launch, during its official revelation in Munich fair.
4 square headlights
In terms of style, the two teasers having revealed the silhouette of this future Alpine GTi, from the front and in profile, do not no more doubts about the similarities between the R5 and the Alpine GTi. Both should share certain bodywork elements, but will be distinguished in particular by their facies. The principle of quadruple optics, dear to Dieppe productions, will be renewed at the front of the future city car. But their contours will be square, according to the light signature staged on the second teaser. We can also guess the introduction ofan imposing spoiler at the top of the tailgate.
Alpine Electric Award
Cocorico, since this future electric Alpine GTi, failing to be assembled in Dieppe, will be manufactured in France. And more particularly in Douai, in the North, alongside the future Renault 5. If the latter is promised at a price lower than € 20,000, at the entry level, the Alpine should at least claim € 30,000, when it is launched commercially in 2024.
