Like that, the future Volkswagen ID.2?

That’s it, Volkswagen has definitely taken the electric turn, and does not intend to stop there. And for good reason, the Wolfsburg firm has already started its transformation, after a somewhat difficult start, due to a ID.3 somewhat capricious. Small messes that now seem to be part of the past, as the brand continues to introduce zero-emissions novelties, with the new ID.4 which we recently took the wheel and the ID.6, its big brother just revealed to the occasion of the Shanghai show. But there is no question for the brand to stop there, when it is already working on the launch of other models, including the ID.5, the ID.Buzz or the GTX version of the ID. 4, more sporty. But the electric range will not be composed only of large SUVs, since Volkswagen is also in full development of its futures ID.1 et ID.2, two city cars logically placed under the ID.3 within the range.

But then, what could the latter look like, which should display a size close to that of the Polo? This is what a Brazilian designer wanted to know, who had fun imagining the production version of the city car, which should see the light of day by 2023 according to the first rumors of the corridors. To design the car, Kleber Silva therefore drew his inspiration from the style of the Volkswagen Polo, which has just received a little restyling on the sidelines of the Shanghai show. If we are probably still far from the final version, now the drawing created by the pro of the graphics tablet already gives us a small overview of what to expect in the years to come. The car then takes the rear part of the thermal city car, to which we would then have grafted a front of Volkswagen ID.3. What to give us some clues on the look of the car, while all the models of the ID range share the same front end.

Which technical sheet?

For the time being, no information has yet been revealed regarding the technical characteristics of this future Volkswagen ID.2, still under development and far from being finalized, while no prototype has yet been seen. But already, rumors are rife about the engine that the city car could take, many mentioning the possibility of offering several power levels, as on the rest of the models in the ID range. This ID.2 could then develop between 100 and 150 horsepower depending on the version, while being equipped with a battery with a capacity of around 60 kWh. Like the future ID.1, it would then be manufactured in lithium-ion iron phosphate, a less expensive technology and benefiting from a better longevity.

See you in 2023 to find out a little more about this future Volkswagen ID.2, whose entry ticket could then turn around € 20,000. It should then enter into direct competition with the future electric Renault 5, as well as the Zoe, among others.
