Implemented on April 1, the 15-cent discount on fuel will not be applied everywhere. We explain why.
While the price of fuel is still very high, the government has decided to make a small gesture in favor of motorists. Of course, no reduction in taxes on the program, which would cost the State far too much according to the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire. Nevertheless, after the fuel check and the increase in mileage allowances, Prime Minister Jean Castex recently announced the introduction of a small discount of 15 cents on a liter of fuel. This will then enter on April 1, and will concern both gasoline and diesel as well as LPG and CNG. A welcome little boost for drivers, who can take advantage of it at all stations.
A slight lag
Or almost. Indeed, according to our colleagues from RMC, not all distributors will apply the discount immediately, as it arrives with a small delay of a few days. And the reason is actually quite simple. Because contrary to what many think, it is not the gas station attendants who will advance the 15 cents, but the suppliers, who will then be reimbursed by the State. The stations will therefore wait to sell their old stock before offering the discount, on fuel purchased at a lower price.
Do not panic so if you see that the station-service where you usually go does not apply the discount. You just have to wait a few days to be able to enjoy it yourself. In the meantime, you can go to Total, which will offer a discount of 10 additional cents.
