Implemented on April 1, the fuel discount will ultimately be a little higher. We explain why.
While the price of fuel has seen a very slight drop in recent days, due to a barrel of oil which has fallen slightly, from $140 to “only” a hundred dollars. A small improvement which was therefore felt at the pump, although gasoline and diesel still remain very high, still exceeding two euros per liter in most service stations in France. A situation that is still very complicated for motorists, who find it very difficult to fill their tank to get to work every day. And the discount of 15 cents proposed by the government, which will come into force on April 1, should not change much.
A bigger discount
Nevertheless, motorists should have a good surprise at the pump. Indeed, from 15 cents, the little boost from the government should finally go to 18 cents in mainland France. But what explains this change of situation? In fact, the discount is a tax-free basis, which must be the same for everyone. Except that in some regions, the VAT is more or less high, as in Corsica or in the Overseas Territories.
On Metropolitan France, where it is 20%, the discount will be 18 cents, while it will be 17 cents on the Island of Beauty, with 13% VAT. Finally, in the overseas territories, the little boost will indeed be 15 cents as initially planned.
