Expected on April 1, the fuel discount will not be applied everywhere. More than 2,500 stations will have a little delay.
We are getting closer! While the price of fuel is still very high and has even increased slightly again in recent days, the arrival of the 18-cent discount is obviously eagerly awaited by motorists. Announced a few weeks ago by the government, it will come into force on March 1, for a period of four months. It will then be valid on all fuels, whether diesel, gasoline or even superethanol E85. Excellent news for drivers, who are bearing the brunt of the crisis, amplified by the war in Ukraine. Suffice to say that it is therefore eagerly awaited by the latter.
A little late
However, some will have to take their troubles patiently. Indeed, many stations-service will apply the discount a few days late. In total, they are about 2,500 out of the 12,500 in France, or about one in five. And there’s a good reason for that. This is because the rebate is actually given by the government to suppliers, not gas station attendants. The small stations taking longer to sell their stock, they will therefore continue to sell the fuel paid at full price at the normal amount, before finally applying the discount.
It will therefore take a few days of delay in some service stations, especially those located in less frequented rural areas. On the other hand, due to the lag, the delivery will probably last a few days later, when it will be over for most pump attendants.
