Romain Grosjean left F1 to devote himself to IndyCar. A career choice that the Swiss-French pilot absolutely does not regret.
Romain Grosjean much happier in IndyCar, that’s it! The former Haas driver is done with F1 and he’s much better that way. It is not us who affirm it but him, in an interview granted to the media Race Fans.
Last weekend, the French rookie obtained his 3rd podium of the season, a result that brings him down to just 20 points behind the leader of the season’s best rookie standings. You will understand, the native Genevan is on his little cloud.
The accident in Bahrain is now only a distant memory and his IndyCar experience is not about to end.
Grosjean: on the difference between driving in F1 and Indycar; and why he’s happier now. from formula 1
For the less bilingual among you, let’s sum up these few words from the Swiss-French pilot.
“I understand that all children dream of Formula 1. But if it’s to be at the back of the grid every weekend, I think I’m better off here. (…) It’s the freedom to drive as you want, there is no need to constantly look at the characteristics, push mode, load mode, tire temperature etc. (…) You enter the car, leave the pits and push yourself. You have to be thoroughly every turn and know how to play with your injection. But overall it comes down to pushing, pushing, pushing, coming back to the pits, changing tires and starting over. (…) The fact that we can enjoy every round, and that we can be competitive with any team, adds spice. On top of that, the atmosphere in the paddock mixed with the support of the fans makes for an incredible package and makes me love it. ”
