Last February, a Texas police force was struck by a Tesla Model X in Autopilot mode. Recovered, the five agents demand compensation.
The facts go back but nothing is forgotten. While they were carrying out a roadside check, Texas police officers were struck last February by a Tesla Model X.
The latter was in Autopilot mode at the time of the incident and did notbsolutely not detected the police car parked in front of it. This is how the electric car collided with that of the police at a speed of 112 km / h.
Seriously injured, the five officers took several months to recover. This is now the case (roughly) and as reported Electrek, they decided to sue Tesla.
According to them, the autopilot should have detected their presence or: “He was completely unable to detect the existence of at least four vehicles, six people and a German Shepherd stopped in the traffic lane”.
$ 20 million in damages
This is the amount claimed by the officers who were victims of this incident. For them, Tesla should have changed its system long before their accident.
Some of these agents are now disabled for life, the group of officials is claiming 20 million from Tesla but also from “Pappas” restaurants for serving too much alcohol to the driver.
