The rumor that the Chevrolet Corvette would become a hybrid has just been confirmed by the brand, which even mentions an electric variant later.
At the end of 2021, a prototype of an electrified Chevrolet Corvette had been crossed, reinforcing the persistent rumors of a hybrid variant of the American sports car in preparation. In this spring of 2022, the brand officially communicates on this new version, with a teaser video confirming the theory mentioned earlier.

Chevrolet says in a tweet that an electrified Corvette will be available next year, in 2023. For the moment, nothing says if it is a simple hybrid or plug-in hybrid engine. The teaser video confirms that there is indeed a heat engine, since we hear some roar around 8 seconds. However, it is difficult to know which block it is. The engine could be a V8, like the 5.5 of 679 hp installed in the Z06 variant or the 6.2 of 482 hp placed in the Stingray version. The cumulative power could thus reach 1000 hp thanks to the addition of an electric block.
From one revolution to another
As if the revolution of a rear-mounted engine since the arrival of the Corvette C8 in 2020 was not enough, Chevrolet is therefore officially announcing the use of hybrid technology for its sports car. A second upheaval, which seems according to the video to be accompanied by another radical change: use of all-wheel drive. Indeed, the speed of rotation of the wheels and the skidding seem to show that the four wheels will be driving.
But that’s not all. These big changes will be followed by a third revolution shortly: a 100% electric Corvette! Yes, you read correctly. In its teaser, the manufacturer does not only mention the hybrid, but also confirms the arrival of a battery-powered variant. This one reveals very little for the moment, and it will therefore be necessary to wait a little longer to find out more about this great first…
