The 100% electric revolution will go through the advent of a new Manta-e within the Opel range. What do we already know about it?
Future Opel Manta-e (2025) – While Citroen C5 X has just started her commercial career, soon to be joined by a certain Peugeot 408 Crossover, planned for this summer, another raised sedan is being prepared behind the scenes, within the Stellantis group. And more particularly on the other side of the Rhine where Opel prepares the weapons of the future Manta who will probably leave the 3-door silhouette of the original coupé in favor of a fastback with 5 doors.
A strong trend
By putting the Manta project on track, Opel somehow solves the painful replacement of an Insignia at the end of the day, whose status as a classic sedan is no longer successful. Citroën has just inaugurated this trend by adding the suffix X to the last generation of C5, when the current 508 should gradually fade away in favor of the Peugeot 408 Crossover. On the other side of the world, Ford is offering the same type of bodywork with the Evos in an attempt to reverse the sales curve of a Mondeo that has reached the end of its life.
100% electric or nothing
It’s only in 2025 that Opel should launch its new raised sedan, with one particularity: the latter will make full use of 100% electric propulsion to stick to the brand strategy aimed at do without fossil fuels by 2028. The one that should adopt the name Opel Manta-e could be based on the current EMP2-V3 platform of the latest generation break Astra, which will be completely electrified from 2023/2024. By using the long-wheelbase underbody of the family version of the Russelsheim compact, it will ensure generous legroom as well as a gargantuan trunk volume. In terms of size, the newcomer will flirt with the 4,70 m de long.
An electric OPC?
Renamed STLA Medium, the future 100% electric derivative of the EMP2 V3 underframe promises battery capacities ranging from 87 to 104 kWh to rally up to 700km. Their lightning cooldowns will allow you to recover 32 km range per minute, on a supercharger. On the engine side, 170 to 245 hp are expecteds, at first, when the bar of 450 hp could be reached on high performance versions.
Opel Manta-e Prix
At its launch, within three years, the Opel Manta-e should claim au minimum 50 000 € to become its owner.
