In the Jura massif, the Mountain Law will therefore concern many municipalities, such as Pontarlier or Thonon-Les-Bains. Besançon and Lons-le-Saunier, on the other hand, escape this obligation, as does Montbéliard. Direction the Pyrenees, with a relatively small area, which should then concern only the most mountainous areas, bordering the border with Spain. Same thing in the Vosges, where the towns of Saverne and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges will be concerned, unlike Molsheim, Colmar and Mulhouse. A good part of the Massif Central will be subject to this measure, including the cities of Clermont-Ferrand, Aurillac, Le Puy-en-Velay or even Saint-Etienne. Finally, in the Alps, cars going to Annecy, Chambéry, Gap or Digne-les-Bains will also have to put on their snow tires.
No penalties for the first year
This new measure will therefore take effect from November 1, and will last until March 31, each year. Motorists subject to this new regulation will therefore have to install specific tires designed for use on snow and ice. If those simply marked with the M + S logo are authorized, they will only be tolerated until 2024. The ideal is therefore to opt for stamped tires. 3PMSF and bearing the Alpine symbol, depicting a snowflake and mountains. It is obviously also possible to complete your equipment with chains or socks, to be installed at least on the driving wheels of your vehicle.
