It’s never too early to learn… and Porsche knows it. The brand has already started the test program for its new weapon in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), almost a year before its competitive debut. The German prototype – which complies with LMDh regulations – was surprised during its last private test session at Spa-Francorchamps by la chaîne Youtube Belgian Motorsport. It will make its racing debut in early 2023.

The name of the craft has not yet been revealed but it is already from the third major test session for this prototype. Based on a Multimatic LMP2 chassis, this Porsche has already driven since the beginning of the year five days in Barcelona and three days in Motorland Aragon (Spain).

The very informed journalist Gary Watkins revealed on Motorsport.com what eight pilots had already taken the wheel of the prototype since the start of the program : Felipe Nasr, Dane Cameron, André Lotterer, Michael Christensen, Laurens Vanthoor as well as the French Mathieu Jaminet, Frédéric Makowiecki and Kevin Estre.
Two cars will be entered in the world championship in 2023 by the American team Penske, which this year discovers European endurance in LMP2. Two other examples will run in the IMSA North American Championship.
