Max Verstappen wins the first edition of the Miami Grand Prix ahead of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Summary and classification of the race.
Max Verstappen wins the Miami Grand Prix and picks up 19 points from Charles Leclerc (P2) in the driver standings. The Monegasque suffered from the excessive degradation of his tires and could not contain the ardor of the reigning world champion. Rear, Sergio Perez (P4) was unable to take advantage of the top speed of his Red Bull to get rid of Carlos Sainz closing the podium.
The race was marked by the intervention of a safety car following violent contact between Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris. Both pilots gave up and allowed George Russell (P5) to start a nice climben glanant 7 positions in total, to finish the race ahead Lewis Hamilton (P6).
Stephen Ocon also managed to break away from the peloton to climb from the last place to the 8th place in the Miami Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso is meanwhile penalized by 5 seconds for a contact with Pierre Gasly. The Spaniard fails 9e position.
