Honda confirms the arrival of the ZR-V in Europe in 2023. This SUV will be wedged between the HR-V and CR-V, and will only be hybrid here.
By a short press release, Honda confirms the rumor which persisted for a few weeks. There will be a new compact SUV in its European range. The manufacturer even gives it a name: ZR-V.
This newcomer to the range will be inserted between the small HR-V (4.34 m) and the large CR-V (4.60 m) within the European range. It should take over the base of the American HR-V, larger than ours with around 4.50 m. It will be distinguished from the other two SUVs in the range by an original front face (low grille and wide optics) and rear lights without headband. Thus, this Honda ZR-V will be close to a Honda Civic, and should also resume its technical base and its engines in part.
Only hybrid in Europe
and Europe, the Honda ZR-V will only be equipped with an e:HEV hybrid engine. Honda does not specify which one, but it seems logical that it is that of the new Civic hybrid, whose arrival is scheduled for fall 2022 in Europe. The block is a 2.0 four-cylinder with direct injection and Atkinson cycle. It offers 184 hp in cumulative power, with a torque of 315 Nm.
This future competitor of the Toyota Corolla Cross will be imported into Europe in 2023. It should be followed by another SUV, this time 100% electric. Indeed, Honda recently presented an ambitious strategic plan, including several new battery-powered models, including a possible successor to the NSX.
