Lamborghini will join the WEC and IMSA endurance championships in 2024 with an LMDh prototype and compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Lamborghini Squadra Corse, sports division of the manufacturer of Sant’Agata Bolognese, va discover the WEC (world endurance championship) and IMSA (American Endurance Championship). This Thursday, the Italian firm has indeed confirmed that it will compete in Hypercar LMDhthe queen category, from 2024. Lamborghini will therefore be aligned at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in just over two years.
However, the transalpine formation will not field an official team. Indeed, she will support the activities of its customers. Just as it already does in other championships, such as the DTM, the GT World Challenge, or the GT Daytona in IMSA. Several teams are in negotiations with Lambo to integrate this client program.
Lamborghini could bet on Italy

The Italian firm would also hear ally with Ligier, for the construction of its chassis. The tricolor company is one of the four authorized to build LMP2 chassis, which will be the basis of the LMDh (future prototypes evolving in IMSA).
The alliance would be expected for July. In doing so, Ligier would hold his first partner in this championship. A collaboration with already existing links, since Ligier is part of the groupe Everspeed, as well as HP Composites (company producing parts for the Huracan GT3 and Super Trofeo cars). Both are under the direction of businessman Jacques Nicolet.
Endurance, a laboratory for the future
Porsche support (brand of the Volkswagen group, whose chassis will be produced by Multimatic) could also be important. That of Audi, however, remains in question. The Rings Team WEC Project seems to have been abandoned… when that of the Stuttgart firm running at full speed !
