Iconic Lancia model, the Delta is about to make its comeback by 2026, in a completely different form and in electric power.
If you are a car enthusiast, you are most likely familiar with the Lancia Delta, the emblematic model of the brand, very popular with Italian car enthusiasts. Available in four generations, with a second which remains the most iconic of all in terms of its style and its track record in competition, the transalpine compact disappeared definitively in 2014. Over the years, the brand’s range has been reduced. like the skin of grief, until it only offered upsilon, now only sold on its native market, in Italy. A real decline for the firm, which has now lived for many years, flirting with bankruptcy following strategic choices on the part of FCA, then aiming to save Alfa Romeo, also in difficulty. But it could be that the Italian brand is recovering the hair of the beast, while the boss of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares has announced that he wants to relaunch it. The Frenchman is giving himself ten years to revive Lancia.
On the program, therefore, three new models, which will emerge in the coming years. It will then be a city car, a compact and an urban SUV, all only equipped with an electric motor. If until then, no additional details had been revealed about them, the boss of the brand, Luca Napolitano now tells us a little more, and announces to our colleagues of the Corriere della Sera a news that should delight more than one. And for good reason, the Italian CEO officially announces the rebirth of the Lancia Delta, which will therefore be the so mysterious compact promised by the firm. And the least that we can say is that he does not go through four paths, while he declares that “ everyone wants a Delta and it can’t be missing from our plans. It will come back and it will be a real Delta: an exciting car, a symbol of progress and technology. And obviously, it will be electric ».

For the moment, no additional information has been revealed about this future Lancia Delta, which should therefore see the light of day by 2026. So be patient before knowing more about the compact, which could then be based on the EMP2 platform, which already equips the new Peugeot 308, DS 4 and other Opel Astra. The Italian would then have to use the technologies of her technical cousins as well as their specificities. Nothing has been said about the electric motor, but it could then be identical to that which should equip the DS 4 in the coming years. Anyway, this newcomer should adopt a very high-end positioning, allowing it to compete head-on with the Audi A3 and other Mercedes Class A.
