Announced by a series of teasers, the SsangYong Torres will be the second 100% electric model marketed by the Korean brand on the Old Continent.
Discreetly arriving in the electric car segment with the Korando EV, the Korean brand SsangYong is preparing the introduction of its second model on the European market.
Announced a year ago under the code name “J100”, the SsangYong Torres will take the form of a large SUV whose lines are reminiscent of those of Land Rover models. Placed between the Korando and the Rexton within the SsangYong range, it will span approximately 4.6m in length. Its size will thus be comparable to that of a Skoda Enyaq, a Volkswagen ID.4 or the new Toyota bZ4X.
Characteristics to be specified
Based on a modular platform, the model will be able to accommodate both thermal and electric powertrains. For now, the manufacturer does not give more technical information. Given its size, however, we expect performance superior to that of the Korando e-Motion which combines a 61.5 kWh battery with a 190 horsepower block.
The final version of the SsangYong Torres will be presented in a few months. In Europe, its launch is scheduled for 2023.
