Electric cars: an ultra-powerful charger is coming soon

This is one of the main problems with electric vehicles, recharging. The latter is still often far too long for a reduced autonomy. But a business could well revolutionize that.

FIG is a company specializing in the design of electrical equipment. You’ve probably never heard of it, but this Swiss company could well revolutionize the automotive industry of tomorrow. And this, thanks to its new ultra-powerful charger, the Terra 360.

Even more efficient than Tesla’s superchargers, this independent terminal would allow an electric car to recover 100 km of range in just 3 minutes. Not bad is not it ? For comparison, the famous Tesla superchargers, they turn around 320 km in 15 minutes. Or a recharge of 64 km for 3 minutes.

Progress is therefore potentially immense, but there are still a few obstacles in the way of Terra 360.

Too developed at the moment

the ABB’s charger is still too powerful for today’s vehicles. The latter can inject up to 360 Kw while the most powerful models barely reach 300 Kw. We are talking here about the Porsche Taycan and the Lucid Air.

However, the charger will soon be installed in Europe and then in the world. It just won’t be usable at full power just yet but as we were telling you, its potential is staggering.
