This weekend was the last race of the season in DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters). Everyone was able to admire the coronation of Maximilian Götz but also one of the worst overtaking of the season.
In motorsport, Knowing how to overtake correctly is absolutely essential. Pilots know that the slightest missed maneuver can be fatal. And even if the competition is tough, there is no point in risking your life and the lives of others at over 300 km / h.
The F1 community has already proved it to us, but this weekend, it was on the Norisring, in DTM, that one of the participants offered us an overtaking which was as stupid as it was dangerous.
At the start, three cars are neck and neck at the entrance to the first corner, but one of them will make room. Kelvin Van der Linde, initially in the middle, will brake to take the turn on the rope.
However, his maneuver will be a total failure and he will cut the curve and torpedo the two Ferraris of Nick Cassidy and Liam Lawson. The latter, in contention for the title of champion, will also lose his crown in the case. Maximilian Götz will be crowned thanks to team instructions within the German team in the last laps of the race.
Driving like this has no place in any racing series, professional or amateur.
To say afterwards: “I had to risk everything” and “I was surprised Liam put up such a fight” is nonsense.
And he only got a 5-sec penalty for it. DTM and F1 must share officials 🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/pDEWNC7GIx

More fear than harm
But the most surprising thing about all of this is that, as reported by journalist Glenn Freeman, the pilot was only fined 5 seconds for this daring maneuver.
