No, Tesla is not a “bubble” ready to explode. Now (very) profitable, the American manufacturer specializing in electric cars keeps breaking its own sales records.
Elon Musk had posted a target of 750,000 deliveries in 2021. Even with the semiconductor shortage currently penalizing automotive production, Tesla is on track to surpass this mark, with 627,350 vehicles delivered over the first nine months of the year. The American manufacturer produced more than 240,000 vehicles in the third quarter of 2021.

Tesla could approach the million vehicles produced in twelve months. For comparison, here are the 2020 sales of German auto giants :
- Mercedes : 2 164 187
- BMW : 2 028 659
- Audi : 1 692 773
In thirteen years of automobile production, Tesla has therefore reached half the size of these historical players of the automotive market.
Let us recall the main stages in the history of the brand:
- 2003: foundation of the company Tesla Motors
- 2008: start of production of the Roadster (based on Lotus Elise)
- 2010: purchase of the Fremont plant in California (United States)
- 2012: launch of the Tesla Model S
- 2015: first delivery of the Tesla Model X
- 2017-2018: the Tesla Model 3 is marketed in the United States and then in Europe
- 2019: opening of the Shanghai plant (China)
- 2020: Tesla is officially profitable, Model Y launches in the United States
- 2021: construction of the Berlin plant (Germany)
the Model Y deployment on the planet, the release of the revamped Model S and the upcoming launch of the Cybertruck in the United States should allow the curve to continue its ascent in 2022.
The European market will also be better served, with the commissioning of the Berlin plant expected by the end of the year. While waiting for the launch of a possible compact, more suited to our continent …
