BMW M Hybrid V8. Here is the name of the future Munich prototype entered in endurance racing from 2023. It will initially be aligned in the IMSA North American Championship (notably at the 24h of Daytona and the 12h of Sebring). For the time being, BMW has not confirmed participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but it seems very likely by 2024.
Unlike Toyota or Peugeot with their hypercars, BMW has chosen the LMDh route to return to endurance, three years after the M8 GTE was mothballed. As required by the regulations, the brand has teamed up with one of the four chassis suppliers currently present in LMP2. This is the Italian company Dallara, which already holds the monopoly in Indycar or Formula 2. The specifications are approved for a period of five years. And as with all other endurance cars, the M Hybrid V8 will be subject to the balance of performance intended to level the plateau.

Unlike Toyota or Peugeot, BMW chose a V8 rather than a V6 for its prototype. The 4-litre block, working in synergy with the common hybrid system designed at Williams, is probably derived from the engine used in recent years in the DTM championship. Power is capped at 680 hp.
The livery presented this Monday is not final. This is a tribute to 50 years of BMW Motorsportstaking up the famous white, blue, sky blue and red colors of the sports branch of the German brand.
