The half-hearted career of the city SUV pushes the manufacturer to advance its restyling. One of the prototypes of the new DS3 Crossback has just been surprised.
New DS3 Crossback (2023) – Since its launch in 2019, the urban crossover is far from reaching the peaks in terms of commercial performance, to the point of being preceded by its big brother DS7, yet much more expensive. There is therefore an urgent need to restyle the DS3 Crossback in order to relaunch its career.
A style too daring?
What’s wrong with the DS3 Crossback? While its premium positioning is justified by the refinement of its interior, its exterior design has often come under heavy criticism, since its revelation, where the DS7 Crossback was rather unanimous. The little brother has often been criticized for complexity of its facewhen the integration of the shark fin of the previous DS3, on the rear door, is far from making the happiness of the rear passengers as it obstructs their vision towards the outside.
A facelift lacking ambition?
The prototype recently crossed by our scoop hunters finally allows us to observe the modifications allocated to the DS3 Crossback. First disappointment: the tortured contour of the front optics will be renewed. The purse strings of Stellantis seem not to have made a new investment which would have forced the designers to revise the design of the hood, an extremely expensive stamping to correct. Since then, most of this facelift will be on the shield which should be inspired by that of the recent DS4. Less loaded with chrome, for the benefit of style, it will also accommodate new daytime LEDs with a sharper style.
Farewell Crossback?
The rear of the restyled DS3 Crossback does not seem to have been retouched, given the photos we are broadcasting. However, the presence of an adhesive tape on the central element connecting the two lights could confirm the rumor claiming that the surname Crossback would be abandoned to simplify range reading. It would also be a question of the big brother DS7 Crossback, whose mid-career restyling is expected this summer. On board the Cities chip, the changes should be limited to an update to the infotainment system.
At the Paris World Cup?
As we know, DS will be one of the rare brands to tread the aisles of the next Paris Motor Show to be held in mid-October 2022. An event during which the premium label of Stellantis will probably not be content to present the restyling of the DS7 Crossback there. This is why everything suggests that its little brother will also be there, Porte de Versailles, unless DS favors the arrival of a concept car. Either way, the new DS3 SUV should start its career courant 2023taking advantage of an increase in its prices, as is customary. The bar of 26,000 € should then be easily crossed.
