The maximum bonus for an electric car will be maintained at €6,000 beyond July 1.
The government made the suspense last until the end. While a reduction in the ecological bonus was planned for July 1, according to Capitalaid will ultimately not drop on this date, at least for electric vehicles.
In reality, it’s not really a surprise. During the presidential campaign, Emmanuel Macron and Bruno Le Maire were in favor of maintaining bonuses, a measure that is both ecological and economic. But the formalization was therefore only made at the last minute.
Aid for electric cars was to drop by €1,000 on July 1. It was even initially planned for January 1, 2022, but the government had already granted a six-month reprieve, in particular due to the major disruptions in automobile production. So here is a second reprieve of six months, decided when manufacturers are still struggling to ensure production rates in factories, for lack of a sufficient number of electronic chips, and therefore deliveries. There is also the new context of soaring fuel prices.

On a new electric model of less than €45,000, the bonus must therefore remain at €6,000 for natural persons, and €4,000 for legal persons. From €45,000 to €60,000, the bonus is maintained at €2,000 for these two types of clientele. Beyond that, only hydrogen cars have aid, of €2,000. The €1,000 bonus for used electric cars is not affected.
On the other hand, the reduction of the bonus on rechargeable hybrids would, according to our colleagues, still be on the agenda. This would result in a pure and simple removal of the ecological bonus for this type of vehicle.
We are now awaiting formal confirmation. Automobile Propre will of course offer you a complete presentation of the bonuses in force until the end of 2022.
