Expected in the coming months, the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS has taken a ride on the Nürburgring.
It’s been a while since there was anything new on the side of the Porsche 718 Cayman, which is quietly continuing its career, with a range still capped by the version. GT4. With 385 horsepower from its flat six, the latter is quite simply the most radical in the coupé catalog. Finally, until now, while the brand is currently working on the development of a new, even more extreme version. If it has not yet been officially unveiled, the German manufacturer has already published some images of a first prototype, in the middle of a test session on the Nürburgring.
The first 718 model to wear the RS badge, this Cayman GT4 still wears a slight camouflage, which does not reveal the specific details of its design. However, we will already appreciate the large spoiler, as well as the imposing diffuser, which complete an already very aggressive style. Driven by the brand’s development pilot, Jörg Bergmeister, the prototype proved its capabilities by completing a lap of Green Hell in just 7:04:511 minutes, 23.6 seconds shorter than the 718 Cayman GT4. Something to make our mouths water, while everything suggests that many technical improvements have been made, in particular to the chassis as well as to the running gear.
A well-known engine
For now, we know very little about this future Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, whose official presentation should take place in the coming months. If the Stuttgart firm has not given any information on the characteristics of the sportswoman, it is assumed that it will keep the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six of the standard version, associated with a seven-speed PDK gearbox. The power should turn around 450 horses, according to the first rumors of corridors. So all that remains is to take our trouble patiently before knowing more!
