Due to problems in software development, major electrical projects of the Volkswagen Group are disrupted. Audi is particularly affected.
The next electric flagships of the Volkswagen Group brands will be delayed. And even big delays. For example, according to the German media Automobilwoche, the Audi sedan of the Artemis project would not be launched before 2027, a three-year delay.
Bentley’s desire to sell only electric cars from 2030 is also in doubt. Closer, the future electric Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron have also seen their launch postponed. Expected in 2021, they should be in concessions in 2023.

Herbert Diess, boss of the VW group, intervened to restore order. The Artemis project was to have the right to Cariad 2.0 software in 2024, capable of level 4 autonomous driving. This 2.0 version will therefore not be ready before 2026/2027 and could finally be inaugurated by the Volkswagen Trinity sedan. VW would have taken over the development of the software.
Audi is reportedly working on another model for 2025, less technologically ambitious. For the moment, the firm with the rings and Cariad are mainly working on an intermediate and provisional version of the software for the Q6 e-tron, but this is also behind schedule, which has caused a further postponement for the SUV.
