Maserati unveils the Project24, a 740 hp extreme race car whose use will be reserved for the track for 62 lucky owners.
Maserati presents a track-specific version of its MC20 supercar: the Project24. This new racing car is even more powerful, and reserved for use on the circuit only.
This project developed from the standard Maserati MC20 shares several elements with it. It was designed by Maserati’s Centro Stile, Italy. It adopts a configuration combining blue and white, colors dear to the Trident brand. The design derived from the MC20 has been completely reworked, with a bodywork in carbon fiber and natural fibers for some items. The aerodynamics are very advanced with huge air intakes, a scooped bonnet and an extremely imposing spoiler. At the rear, the large diffuser is topped with very thin three-stage LED lights and two round tailpipes in the centre.
The V6 pushed to 740 hp
Under the hood of this true racing car, the V6 3.0 Nettuno is supplemented by new turbos which bring the power to 740 hp! That’s almost 100 hp more than the classic MC20, which stops at 630 hp. Thanks to a contained weight, less than 1,250 kg, the weight/power ratio is approximately 1.69 kg/hp. The gearbox is different, with a six-speed racing sequential transmission, with paddles on the steering wheel. The clutch is specific, and the Project24 has a limited-slip self-locking mechanical differential. Bespoke 18-inch forged aluminum wheels are shod with slick tires, and fitted with Brembo CCMR ventilated racing brakes with bespoke cooling system.
The suspension has also been revised, as has the carbon-ceramic braking system. The tires are suitable for racing, and all safety devices are FIA approved: 120 liter FT3 fuel tank, fire extinguisher and safety cell comply with standards… As for the windows, they are made of Lexan polycarbonate.
62 copies only
Project24 offers numerous options such as a passenger seat, a reversing camera, a telemetry system, an on-board camera with video recording to review track sessions, a display of driving performance optimization and even tire pressure monitoring.
Only homologated for the circuit, the Maserati Project24 will only be produced and sold in 62 units. Owners will be entitled to a series of associated services such as circuit sessions organized with exclusive assistance. The Italian manufacturer does not give a price, but there is no doubt that it will be extremely high…
