The discount on fuel could climb from 18 to 30 cents. If E85 takes advantage of this, its price could drop to 60 cents per litre!
180° turn for the government on fuel aid. It was planned to gradually lower the discount and replace it with aid, paid in one go, targeting large rollers, those who live far from their place of work.
But now the preferred track is now to offer a bigger discount from the start of the school year, which sets aside, at least initially, targeted aid. This reversal is the result of negotiations within the National Assembly, where the executive does not have an absolute majority.
On the subject of fuels, the government is negotiating with the Republican deputies. LR asked for a fuel price blocked at €1.50 per litre, a measure deemed unreasonable by Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy stressing that it would cost the State 50 billion euros.

The compromise was therefore to boost the discount. Since April 1, this has been 18 cents per litre. From September 1, according to Bruno Le Maire, it could be increased to 30 cents. An amount that would be in effect in October as well. Then it would be 10 cents, in November and December.
The exact terms are not yet known. But we hope that this enhanced discount will be applied to all fuels, with therefore E85 and LPG. The latter already benefit from the discount of 18 cents. With 30 cents less, they would logically become even more interesting.
In mid-July, these two fuels had a similar average price in France, at €0.85 per litre, which takes into account the discount of 18 cents. This has also hidden a sharp increase for these alternative fuels, since without the discount, they would be above €1. Excluding discounts, the E85 cost €0.75 at the start of the year. A level that we would find at the start of the school year with the more generous gesture of the government.
Better still, there is a lull these days for prices at the pump, oil having fallen a little. What also counts for E85, the latter having a share of lead-free in its cocktail. If this trend is confirmed, the liter of E85 could approach 60 cents per liter in September. What further accelerate the profitability of a conversion kit.
